Self-Esteem & Confidence Building in Southend-On-Sea, Essex

What is "self-esteem" exactly?

Simply speaking, self-esteem is the sum total of all the beliefs you hold about yourself; the good, the bad and the ugly. It is all about how you feel about yourself. Those beliefs and how you perceive yourself, either negatively or positively, create the difference between low and high self-esteem.

There are many things that can have a massive impact on a person's self-esteem, such as upbringing, bullying, a stressful job, losing a loved one, unemployment, etc, but someone with a healthy portion of self-esteem is able to take away the learnings and even some positives from such events, allowing them to grow and attract more good things into their lives.

If you suffer from low self-esteem however, you may tend to find it hard to let go and move on.

Without help, you may even take away more negative beliefs about your life and yourself, to a point where it feels like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Sounds familiar?

Low self-esteem tends to be a vicious circle that can in turn also leave you vulnerable to abuse from many quarters. Whatever form the abuse comes in, your vulnerability is like blood to a shark and it is the very thing that sustains the abuser's behaviour towards you.

Signs of low self-esteem:

Of course, it is perfectly normal to not like 'everything' about ourselves, but ask yourself the following questions. Do you:

Remember, the most important relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. You have to learn to like and love who you are before you can make the most of other relationships.
